EBUCorePlus Navigator 🚀

Welcome to the EBUCorePlus Navigator. A powerful way to explore EBU's semantic web metadata ontology. Navigate through all its classes, properties and relatonships.

About EBUCorePlus

From the EBUCorePlus page:

EBUCorePlus is an ontology for media enterprises, developed as an open source project. It follows-up on two long-standing EBU ontologies: EBUCore and CCDM (Class Conceptual Data Model). The two were merged and thoroughly revisioned. The result is EBUCorePlus, the new standard that can fully replace its predecessors. It inherits both the long-lasting reliability of EBUCore and the end-to-end coverage of the media value chain of CCDM.

This tool imports the latest RDF/OWL specification from the EBUCorePlus Github page. Everything you see in the Navigator comes directly from that specification.

About CCDM class grouping

Even though EBUCorePlus combines EBUCore and CCDM, the CCDM grouping is not defined in the RDF specification. This tool does group the classes by domain and uses the grouping as mentioned in the EBU Tech 3351 document.

ℹ️ Guests can view details of main classes mentioned in that document (±40), registered users can view all classes / properties / relations.

Why this tool?

The tool is meant as an alternative to EBU's default navigator, or generic ontology tools like Protégé.

When I started working with EBUCorePlus the hundreds of classes / properties / relationships were overwhelming. Especially with the many subclasses and inheritance it was difficult to see what all that means for inherited properties and relationships.

I was looking for a way to improve navigation so I could better understand the structure. I enjoy software development and decided to create a tool for it. And: share it with fellow metadata-enthousiasts.

Hope you like it. Enjoy! 🎉

Some of the features:

  • Find what you need
Lots of filters are available. By type (class/property/relationship), by prefix (ec, dc11, etc.), by top/subclass, and so many more.

  • Inherited properties and relationships
A class can have parents, and the parents can have additional properties/relationships. No worries, the detailed view will show them all.

  • What's your favorite?
The ontology consists of close to a thousand classes / properties / relationships. Not all of them will be relevant for everyone. No problem! You can mark which items you want to highlight and then filter on them.

  • Exports to CSV/Excel Easily export what you see (or all details) to CSV or Excel.

  • Notes are welcome!
Did you notice a typo? Have the feeling something is incorrect? Would like something changed? Or you just want to add a mental note for yourself? The tool has functionality for adding notes to resources. You decide if you want to share the note with others.

ℹ️ Want to create notes? Let me know, and I will add you to the list of editor users.

For direct communication with the EBUCorePlus maintainers: open a Github ticket instead.

Disclaimer

  • this tool is not associated with EBU
  • if there are questions or suggestions regarding this tool: love to hear from you
  • if there are questions about the actual classes / properties / relationships, including the definitions / descriptions / examples: feel free to create a note in the tool, but keep in mind the ontology itself is maintained by EBU
  • this is a hobby project, your mileage may vary

Version of specification

The tool uses EBU's latest development version of the specification, as this is updated more frequently than the officially released version.
